Relive the Spaghetti Western on a Santa Cruz Nomad

  • On May 27, 2014

My first “real” mountain bike (sorry Raleigh Technium Chill) was a 1st gen Santa Cruz Heckler.  I got it back in 2001 from a friend who won the frame racing dual slalom the year prior.  It was mated to a RST triple clamp front fork and a Rock Shox coil spring rear shock.  It helped take my riding skill and enjoyment up and beyond the next level.

My first love in music was classical.  Ennio Morricone could loosely be described as a classical musicion.

One of my earliest loves in cinema was all of Clint Eastwood’s Spaghetti westerns.  In 2004 I watched them all, in succession of release, over the course of a few days.  What at first seemed like a loose, fractured storyline tied together by coincidence, quickly became a vast and wonderful saga.  Seeing them back to back like that created a new bedrock of appreciation for the movies.  They are still my favorites till this day.

Lucky for me, Santa Cruz has put all these elements together in this quick but thrilling trailer for their 2014 Nomad mountain bike.  If you’ve never ridden to the soundtrack of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly – then you’re missing out.  Relive the essential moments of this movie for yourself and feel the unbridled West cheer you on as you rail the high speed berms, rumble over rock fields, and gallop over grasslands.
